NEW YORK NEW YORK – Hard to know what this is: a piece of junk or a valuable picture. I found it stood up on Park Avenue, apparently unattended. Shot with my Leica Monochrom and 50mm “rigid” Summicton lens from 1962.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I showed up at 30 Rock today to take a look at the Van Gogh’s Ear installation, a swimming pool tipped up on end. Cool but poor light so I went home with only a poor image. I caught some reflected light on Park Avenue on my way home.

In this day last year (day 1975): Old Nikkor. Last year at this time I was experimenting with an 85mm Nikkor lens (rangefinder mount) from the mid-1950s. It’s a lovely lens and was a breakout product for Nikon. This is a different image than the one I used last year.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – We trekked down to the Benrubi Gallery (newly relocated to West 26th Street) for the opening of a show of work from India by our old friend Laura McPhee. Coincidentally Benrubi also had up a room full of gold printing out prints by Linda Connor. Linda has used the last of this paper in the world to print this show so we bought one. Images below are the pictures that we’re bringing home.

On this day four years ago (day 744): Blizzard This is an example of the weird (climate-wise) area that we live in. Today it’s shirtsleeve weather – actually balmy. Four years ago there was a blizzard.

PINE PLAINS NEW YORK – We visited the house here of a recently deceased friend. We found this in a pergola up a hill from the house: a famous quote from Philip Larkin’s poem “An Arundel Tomb”.
