CAMP PENDLETON CALIFORNIA – An interesting couple of days. I’m here for a reunion of my Marine Corps officers Basic School class – catching up with guys who I last saw in Quantico decades ago. I was most impressed by the fact that the active duty Marines who were our hosts were uniformly polite, respectful and helpful.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – This evening we went to a benefit for Words Without Borders held at a venue just off of Canal Street. I got images on the way and at the event. All with my Monochrom, of course.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – My firm had a lovely outing this evening at the Central Park Zoo for summer associates. The idea was to bring families to try to prove to them that we are human beings. Harsh light made photography hard until a found myself in the chiaroscuro depths of the Penguin House. Taken with my Leica Monochrom.

On this day last year (day 1,343): Metropolitan Club. I’ve re-edited the group of pictures that I took on this day last year. I like this one much more than the one that I posted a year ago.

NEW YORK NY and ANNISQUAM MA – We started this morning in meetings in midtown where I had a chance to catch a moment of transcendent light on Park Avenue. Followed by a long drive to Anniscquam and a pre-wedding party. What a day.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – We lent our apartment to our daughter, Francesca, for a party in honor of two of her friends who have achieved major life transitions. Of course Basil the Norwich Terrier was in attendance so here Francesca an he are, in blatant violation of my “no pictures of dogs” rule.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – We had a book party today for our Swedish friend Dag Ahlander, who has written a book of advice on living one’s life as a “retiree”. I used quotes here because Dag has been in constant motion since he left the Swedish diplomatic service. Here’s Dag, taken with my Leica Monochrom.
