THE COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE, WASHINGTON – I travelled out here to catch up with a close friend from the Marine Corps, Frank Blakemore, who is pictured on my Biography standing next to a 1953 Dodge Cranbrook. This was an important trip for me. I was struck by how much we have in common, despite taking very different paths in life: Frank stayed in the Marine Corps, had a series of interesting to spectacular postings, and ended up retiring a second time from FedEx where he had a senior logistics position. And we both married well. Frank showed my around his part of the world today, so here you go with my Leica Monchrom and 50mm Leica Summicron Asph. lens.

OUTSIDE OF PARIS – I arrived in Paris this morning and was picked up at the airport by my friend Laure who took us off to her family’s country house where we spent a perfect day, starting with lunch with some friends. Pictures taken with my Leica Monochrom and 50mm Summicron Asph.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – A perfect day for a lovely party put together by some neighbors. As you scroll down you’ll see an Aunt Alice shot – a lineup of people squinting into the setting sun. I object to these in principle but have decided to start taking them as a documentary record. Complain to my editor if you don’t like it. All images take with my Leica S2 and 70mm lens.

On this day last year: Urban poetry. A construction site in Manhattan. Proof that color has a function, despite by bias toward black and white.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – We had a full house in Connecticut this weekend. Maria is in Paris but Alexander and Laura, Francesca, and Will Hoar (Maria’s godson) and his fiancée, Olivia Wolf. What a riot. Shot with my baby Sony RX100 II all weekend. The Sony has a zoom lens but I only shoot it at the wide end which is 28mm equivalent. Thus the wide angle distortion.

KENT CONNECTICUT – We had lunch with friends in Kent. I took my Leica S2, which is a very large camera – eccentrically so in an era of iPhones and professional photographers moving to mirrorless compacts. People didn’t seem to mind. Interestingly, even at web resolution you can see that the medium format S2 offers an advantage in three dimensionality and texture.
