FISHERS ISLAND SOUND, CONNECTICUT – Here we are on the ferry back to New London. We arrived separately over 24 hours. We’re all on the 3:30 boat back to terra firma. Taken with my Leica M9 and 28mm Summicron lens.

On this day last year: West Hampton. Early August is clearly our time to visit friends at their weekend places (we are actually quite begrudging in missing weekends in Warren.)

FISHERS ISLAND NEW YORK – We drove to New London this morning and took the ferry to Fishers Island. We’re here for a reunion with three other couples who we’ve know since our early days in New York. All of us were bankers or lawyers (the banks we worked for, Bankers Trust, Salomon Brothers and Chase Manhattan, no longer exist) except for Maria, who as we know made her way in publishing. Our children are the same ages; we’ve been to each others christening and weddings. There’s a whole network of Godfather/Godmother relationships. Cocktails taken with my Fuji X-Pro1.

By the way I’m still shooting film with my Leica M3 and having a ball. I’ll post periodically as I develop and scan.

SARATOGA SPRINGS NEW YORK – I guess we must be helicopter parents. Our daughter, Francesca, is taking the New York State bar exam in Saratoga next week so we drove up here to keep her company at meal times. Saratoga is warmed over from the gilded age – Diamond Jim Brady and C V Whitney are long gone, replaced by hordes in t-shirts. It’s the end of the ballet season and the start of the racing season. We stayed in a Victorian relic named the Adelphi Hotel. I’m not in love with any of the images that I’ve taken here.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I traveled to Boston today but caught some details of our life at home at sunrise. As I’ve noted in the past that we have collected some Venini glass – some of it is in the photos that I took before leaving. I stopped at the Venini store on Via Montenapoleone in Milan on our recent trip – prices have doubled since I last looked at them a year or so ago. This is ruinous. Most of the stuff on eBay now is junk being held out by sellers as Venini or like Venini.

Here are the pictures, taken with my Fuji Xpro-1 (my in-a-hurry camera – I saw the light as I was running out the door to catch a plane) and 18mm Fuji lens.

More scanned film from an earlier date. Have I commented before that a photo-a-day blog would be very difficult shooting film because of the time lags developing film and scanning? Taken with my Leica M3 and a 50mm Summilux lens.

GOSHEN CONNECTICUT – We visited some friends, Henry and Celia McGee, in Goshen for lunch – Goshen is the site of a country county fair in August – we’ll be back. Taken with my Fuji X Pro-1 and a Fuji 35mm lens.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I spent the late afternoon (after a more or less full day at my day job) preparing for a dinner party. Cooking well is a bit of a curse – people come to expect it. The menu was all cook-in-advnace summer stuff: vitello tonato, salade a la russe, an onion tart and a tossed salad. Anyway, here are images with my Fuji X Pro.
