WARREN CONNECTICUT – Two frontal houses today – one from here today and one from Avignon two years ago. The former image received an assist from my drone.
Day 2,810 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
WARREN CONNECTCUT – Here I am flying my drone again, today shooting small scale ideas, using the drone for a point of view as opposed to an aerial image.
Day 2,781 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – It’s my birthday. I spent a good part of the day experimenting with bokeh, the quality of the out of focus portions of an image. And of course an hour or so airborne with my drone.
Day 2754 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
ANTIGUA – Today I worked with my Leica Monochrom and Leica 50mm Summicron Asp. lens (which I call the “Luxochron”), shooting wide open with a .9 ND filter (three stops). The out-of-focus rendering of this lens is amazingly appealing (to my eyes) for such a highly corrected lens. The close up of the water lily flower was taken with my iPhone 7, which gives good service as a close up camera.
Day 2,689 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day seven years ago (day 132): Times Square
WASHINGTON CONNECTICUT – We had dinner tonight at the home of friends who have built one of the best gardens in Connecticut. Shot with my Sony A7rii and converted to black and white.
Day 2494 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
WARREN CONNECTICUT – I’m experimenting today with HDR – that is using software to combine multiple exposures to achieve expanded tonal range. I hate most HDR images. Many are found in Instagram and other online venues. They usually look badly over-cooked and artificial. My objective is to use this technique to save subtle highlight and shadow detail, and to amp up local contrast, but only slightly. The technique require combining multiple exposures so I’m starting today on a tripod – thus the somewhat academic look to the images. I’ll give hand-held a go tomorrow. Shooting with my Leica Monochrom and 21mm Super-Elmar lens.
Day 2438 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day last year (day 2073): Alley. One of my better images from my ongoing alleys project.
