NEW YORK NEW YORK – Still shooting infrared. This was a crowded day so I only managed some rushed shots around the Seagrams building.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – A clear day at last but I’m not fully in the moment so blah images. I sometimes shoot infrared in the winter – rarely in the summer because I don’t like the white leaves effect. Here’s an “out my window” with a digital camera that I had modified a few years ago so that it sees infrared only.

WASHINGTON CONNECTICUT – More infrared so watch out for gimmicks. On the golf course today with my Leica Monochrom, 35mm lens and infrared filter. It was a sunny day so this produced an extreme infrared effect with a black sky and white foliage. As noted yesterday the effect is more subtle in the winter so I usually don’t shoot infrared this time of year – but I’m checking to see how this works with my Monochrom. This requires extremely high ISO – this image was taken at 5000. This results in a good bit of digital grain which can be minimized by processing – particularly by downsizing the image. WASHINGTON CONNECTICUT – I’m continuing to push the limits of my Leica Monochrom. Today I put an infrared filter on the camera and spent the day shooting infrared. I usually don’t like the strong infra red look (with white foliage) so when I shoot IR I usually shoot it in the winter. Here we are in the garden shooting infra red.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Out with the Leica Monochrom again today. I’m trying it out as an infrared camera – I strapped on an infrared filter and snapped a couple of dozen images. This isn’t really practical because the filter needs 10 stops additional exposure – the camera evidently has very good infrared filtering. Here’s an example:

WARREN CONNECTICUT – A good day in the country. There was a moment when a shaft of sunlight illuminated a vase in the kitchen – a fleeting moment caught with my Sony Nex-7 and 24mm Summilux lens. Later in the day I walked around with my infrared camera, a Panasonic LX3 that has been adapted so that it’s sensitive to infra red light only.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I spent most of the day in the office, so I spent a bit of time lurking around the halls with my Leica M8.2 and an IR filter, looking for things to photograph. Â I caught this in the elevator lobby on my floor. Â Shot with a 35mm pre-aspheric Summicron v. 4, known as the “Bokeh king” for creamy quality of the out of focus portions of the images it creates. Â If you think I’m kidding on the Bokeh king thing try Googling it and see what you get. This lens is also an outstanding lens for infrared. Â Here’s the image:
