WARREN CONNECTICUT and NEW YORK NEW YORK – We woke up on a foggy morning in Connecticut to drive to New York and the Lower East Side to join some friends who had organized a tour of the Tenement Museum and the Eldridge Street Synagogue. Worth a voyage.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – Some days I just need to fuss with my gear a bit. I just got a classic 50mm Summilux lens back from minor repairs and cleaning in Wetzlar. It’s been a while since I shot with it (I’m holding it for investment a this point) but I thought that I should shoot it side by side with my current favorite 50mm lens, the Leica 50mm Summicron Asph. Shooting a bookcase close with a distant bright background is a chance to test corner resolution, focus accuracy, contrast, tendency to veiling flair and most importantly, “bokeh”, the quality of the out-of-focus portions of the image. Here’s the image for the 50mm Summicron Asph. which wins on all counts.
Day 1,787 of one picture every day for the rest of my life.

WASHINGTON CONNECTICUT – We’ve got a new mechanic for our old boat. Our 1952 wooden Chris Craft takes a fair amount of care to keep running. Here are some images around our new guy’s place.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Housebound today with my sore foot, so I’ve shot around the house using a 280mm telephoto for close-ups. Here’s a silver bowl.
Day 1,685 of one photo every day for the rest of my life.
On this day last year (day 1,320): Brook. An experiment, which I’ll return to, in shooting landscape with very high ISO.
NORTHVILLE CONNECTICUT – Tired of indifferent weather I spent the morning with a camera in our local hardware store. Not the best moment in my one photo every day journey.
Day 1,661 of on picture every day for the rest of my life.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – We spent today pulling ourselves together for a trip to Amersterdam where a number of friends are getting together to celebrate their birthdays (including mine) which all fall around now. Here’s a picture of a Chinese vase in our apartment.
