PINE PLAINS NEW YORK – I had a busy, fragmented day today. I’m driving up here on a weekly basis working on settling matters in an estate that I’m executor of. I don’t find much to inspire me in Pine Plains. Today I shot around with my iPhone 6.

On this day four years ago (day 722): Guggenheim Museum in NY, Frank Lloyd Wright’s mid-50s masterpiece. We live just down the street from the Guggenheim so I see it almost daily but I’ve struggled photographing it. This is my favorite of the images that I’ve taken of it.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – We’re now in the run-up to next week’s trip to Tokyo and Hong Kong so I decided to shoot a Japanese vase with my new Leica Q compact camera. The Leica Q is a relatively compact camera with a lovely 28mm f1.7 fixed lens. It’s the most responsive point an shoot that I’ve ever owned. The lens’s lovely creamy bokeh is illustrated in the second shot of coleus gone to seed.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – A very busy day on non-photo issues. I shot around the house to fulfill my daily pledge.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – May 12 is a seriously over-committed day for me: my schedule required me to attend all day meetings in both New York and Boston. This didn’t leave a lot of room for photography, so I resorted to my iPhone (always better than I expect), in this case shooting a crumpled sheet of paper from my schedule. The string is alive; long live the string. Consider today’s output as a foil to my productive yesterday.

On this day five years ago (day 199): Early morning through a 5″ Astro-Physics refracting telescope. Originally posted in color. Not bad. I’ll drag it out of the basement for another spin.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – We’re rushing around preparing for a trip to Paris for a long Easter weekend. Not much time for photography so I shot a vase and flowers at home with my Noctilux f.95 lens, which has a distinctive signature when shot wide open. Here you go.

ANTIGUA – Well let’s see here. Hmmm . . . I’ve got a couple of beach themed images here today: a shell and a beach. Taken with my Leica Monochrome and 18mm lens.
