NEW MILFORD CONNECTICUT – We drove down here today to go to the Elephant Trunk, a massive flea market, which we’ve passed many times. This is pretty hard work. A lot, but not a lot, photographically. Colorful but all of these places look the same to me.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – While waiting on the 53rd Street Station for the E train (which is depressingly far under ground) I heard the sound of “Amazing Grace” being played on a bagpipe. I walked the length of the platform to investigate and found, rather than a ruddy Scot campaigning for succession, a wan, very sick-looking, young man. Here he is.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – You may remember that a couple of weeks ago (on June 4) I lost my pocket camera, a Sony RX 100 II, and the images recorded on it with near disastrous results. This is the day that my only image was an out-of-focus stairway, one of the crap images of all time. Well the Sony’s replacement, a Sony RX 100 III, has arrived so I’ll be shooting with it for the next week or so to sort out what its capabilities are. Let’s hope that I can hang on to it for a while.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – My firm had a lovely outing this evening at the Central Park Zoo for summer associates. The idea was to bring families to try to prove to them that we are human beings. Harsh light made photography hard until a found myself in the chiaroscuro depths of the Penguin House. Taken with my Leica Monochrom.

On this day last year (day 1,343): Metropolitan Club. I’ve re-edited the group of pictures that I took on this day last year. I like this one much more than the one that I posted a year ago.

CHICAGO ILLINOIS – My daughter, Francesca, brought me here for a combined birthday/fathers day present: dinner tonight at Aiinea, currently number 9 on the San Peligrino list of the world’s 50 best restaurants. Much of the weekend was spent stuck in the air transport system as a result of weather delays. Today’s image could have been anywhere – we didn’t have time for any of the iconic Chicago places.

NEW YOR NEW YORK – There was really good light on Broadway today. I hung out in the mid-60s for a couple of hours with my Leica Monochrom.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I took a walk on the West Side today, near Lincoln Center. Just OK stuff. I couldn’t figure out which of a number of uninspired shots I liked the best, so here are three.
