NEW YORK, NEW YORK – I’d be lying if I reported that the meds instantly made me feel better. The Lyme thing drags on. I did make it out of the apartment to run some errands in our neighborhood, Carnegie Hill, where I caught this with my Leica M9 and a 24mm Summilux lens.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Francesca, my daughter, nagged me finally to see a doctor this morning. The mystery of why I’ve been feeling so poorly for so long has been solved! It’s Lyme disease! This is a tick-bourne disease that’s epidemic in Connecticut – it’s actually named after Old Lyme Connecticut, the first place that it was discovered. If not treated it has very serious long-term consequences, but in early stages it responds well to industrial-strength antibiotics. Symptoms are fever, lassitude, depression and a really gross rash. Anyway I started my meds today and will be fine.

I’m continuing my search for subjects close at hand that I can photograph when I’m sick. Today I shot a bookcase at home, filled mainly with books about photographers and photography, with my medium format rig. Here it is:

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Back to New York – that was a genuinely quick trip to attend a wedding. Still a bit under the weather. Francesca noticed a quite cruddy looking rash on my legs and had nagged me to see a doctor, which I’ll do tomorrow morning.

I installed new firmware in my Hasselblad back. I did an out-my-window test, stitching two frames shifted to the left and the right on my Alpa Max, to see if the firmware cures the “centerfolding” issue that’s apparent when this back is used shifted on a technical camera. It didn’t – note the vertical line in the sky on the right side of the image:

PORTLAND MAINE – Well a lot is going on. Maria has left for Tanzania where she’s joining a group of alpha women who are climbing Kilimanjaro. No kidding. She’s not the least bit crunchy and is more at home in Pucci than SEI, but she’s taken this on as a challenge and we’re very proud of her. Francesca and I went to Portland Maine for a wedding. I captured “1904 Workingmen’s Club,” which is now the home of a credit union, with my Panasonic GH2. I brought my Alpa but failed to put a CD card in the bag – I need to put together a checklist for it.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – I met Lance Shad of Digital Transitions and we walked over to the High Line. I captured this image on the way with my Alpa TC, Schneider 35mm xl lens and 60 meg Hasselblad back.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Out my window, taken with my Panasonic GR2 and 14 – 140 zoom lens. Two exposures, one for the skyline and one for the moon. I hand tipped the correct moon exposure in Photoshop. Still feeling poorly so I’m resorting to out my window stuff to meet my one photo every day objectiive.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Back home from Boston. I actually feel almost fine for the first time in over a week. I grabbed my Leica M9 and a few lenses and headed out to explore the second section of the High Line that opened while we were in Italy. For some reason I was in the moment and “on” – some fairly good work after a week of blah. Here are some samples, all taken with my M9 and a 24mm Summilux lens.
