NEW YORK NEW YORK – I ran into my friend Tom Barry in front of the Colony Club; I found myself on the sidewalk in front of the Ferrari store on Park Avenue, where a 1961 California Spyder (perhaps the most beautiful car ever made) was parked next to the curb; and I found myself on Sixth Avenue looking up. Hard to decide so here you go with all three, all taken with my Leica Monochrom and a 50mm Luxochron lens.

On this day last year (day 1,336): Big red thing. At least it was red last year. In light of my new commitment to all things black and white I’ve translated the image to grayscale for the look back. If you want to see it in color you can click through to the link to last year.
MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE NEAR WORCESTER – So . . . Everyday isn’t great. I mean that in a lot of ways. We spent most of today in a car, on limited access roads, driving back to New York.
Here you go with a rest stop of the Massachusetts Turnpike.
Day 1,697 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – I’ve operated for a few days on the theory that the point of this exercise (a daily photo blog) is to document my daily life. A visual diary. Ok. So here’s a picture taken with my Panasonic while waiting for a red light. I may have to give this a bit more thought. Maybe it’s a Friday the 13th effect.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – This was a busy day of Holiday preparations. I took exactly one picture with my iPhone. (This will be a relief for those of you who have tired of endless iPhone galleries.) There was a single moment of magical light as I passed a truck with an amazing paint job. The iPhone does a good job of rendering extreme greens. (It’s less successful with reds.) I percolated the image with the Percolator iPhone app – this may have been a gilding-the-lily kind of mistake. Anyway, here it is:
One helluva paint job
WASHINGTON CONNECTICUT – We spent the day on Lake Waramaug. Here is a friend’s Nash Metropolitan, a cottage on the lake that we’ve rented for the summer, and three friends in our boat, all taken with my Alpa TC, 35mm Schneider XL lens and Phase One IQ 180 back,

MARBLE DALE, CONNECTICUT – A friend just bought a 1956 Austin Healey that had major surgery in 1967: the Ford racing division replaced the engine with a 400 hp 302 cubic inch Ford racing engine. Of course adjustments were made in the transmission and rear end and the steering as suspension parts. Hear’s the car: Austin-Healey BN2. The sound this thing makes can’t be believed. The upgrades evidently didn’t include brakes. It’s a wild drive. Here’s my picture of the day, taken with my Alpa TC.

On this day one year ago: Paraty. One of the many lovely 18th Century colonial buildings in Paraty, Brazil.
WESTHAMPTON, NEW YORK – I carried my Leica M9 with a 50 mm Summilux lens around all day. I’m often surprised and delighted by the images that this combination produces – I think that if I were to limit myself to a single camera and lens this would be it.
