WARREN CONNECTICUT – “Winter is icumen in” to quote Ezra Pond’s parody of the Cuckoo Song. A gray, raw day here.
Day 2214 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day three years ago (day 1118): Blizzard

Day 2214 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day three years ago (day 1118): Blizzard
WARREN CONNECTICUT – It was beautiful here today with soft light taking the edge off of the colorful Fall landscape. I took the opportunity to get close to the landscape, shooting wide with my Leica Monochrom. One technique that I’m exploring is shooting handheld in this relatively poor light at f16 to permit deep depth of field, and compensating with high ISO (2,400), which is very much against the grain for landscape, but works well with the Monochrom.
Day 2208 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day two years ago (day 1478): Late fall in CT. So . . . two years ago I was shooting very similar subject to those that I am shooting today. Not surprising given the local deciduous landscape.
WARREN CONNECTICUT – A hectic weekend of board meeting preparation. I just barely had time to get my image for the day, which is a sad, neglected-looking little thing. Even my Leica Monochrom needs a little guidance to produce a good image.
Day 2207 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day last year (day 1842): Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA. I was there for a reunion of my Marine Corps Basic School Class.
WARREN CONNECTICUT – I drove up here today on an errand for an estate that I’m the executor for. Absolute peak Fall foliage. Of course I shoot in monochrome . . .
Day 2204 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day four years ago (day 743): Columbus Circle
WARREN CONNECTICUT – I got some good light on the fall foliage, which as usual is reproduced here in black and white because I shoot in black and white – with my Leica Monochrom camera and the wonderful Carl Zeiss 15mm ZM lens.
Day 2194 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day five years ago (day 369): City Island cottage in Halloween dress.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – Really good light in the alley behind 1185 Park, Captured with my Leica Monochrom and 50mm APO Summichron. Later in the day in Warren: same camera with the lovely 28mm Elmar lens.
Day 2193 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day six years ago (day 2): Remember the recession?
WAAREN CONNECTICUT – I strapped my 1945 Carl Zeiss Sonnar lens onto my Leica Monochrom today and went out into the blazing fall landscape shooting . . . black and white of course. This is a remarkable lens that renders the Fall light beautifully, providing greater transparency into shadows than a modern lens, and slightly diffused highlights.
Day 2187 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day last year (day 1822): New Milford Congregational Church. In the rain.
