NEW YORK NEW YORK – First an image with my Leica Monochrom and Luxochron lens, looking up in Manhattan in the early evening. This is a great setup for shooting Manhattan at night handheld. This can result in some nice images particularly after the end of daylight savings time next week because it is dark at 6:00 when buildings are still full illuminated by lights in offices.

I joined some friends in going out to South Williamsburg for dinner at a restaurant called XiXa. Pronounced “shiksa” by the owner. No kidding. It was supposed to be a Southwestern dive but it turned out to be serious Asian-Mexican fusion at a very high level. A major upside surprise.

BROOKLYN NEW YORK – My friend and Yale classmate Ted Shen held a reception at his house in Brooklyn Heights for photographer David Michalek. It was a brilliant afternoon (actually overcast – I’m referring to the people). I used the opportunity to walk 30 yards to the Esplanade and capture an images of the Wall Street skyline to use as a banner for my blog. All images taken with my Sony Nex-7 camera and a 35mm Leica Summilux lens.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I stayed in town this weekend for an number of reasons – the best one of which was a birthday party for Francesca, our daughter, given by some friends. Here they are shot with my Ricoh GRD IV. The on camera flash on this thing isn’t all that bad.

Here’s the last of the self variations that I’m going to post. Here I divided the print plane into quarters and placed a quarter of an image from each of four different times, and blended them.

WARREN CONNECTICUT and BROOKLYN NEW YORK – We started out the day in Connecticut (with power restored) – photographed a neighbor’s cornfield in the rising sun. We drove back to New York to attend an engagement party for our son in Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK – I spent the afternoon today at Brooklyn Bridge Park – a park under construction that’s transforming the Brooklyn waterfront. There was a lot of stuff to photograph. Really. Some tourist shots – the view of lower Manhattan is incomparable; some construction; some people. I’ve had real difficulty sorting it all out so I’m posting a bunch of images. Here’s a link to the Wikipedia entry on the park: Brooklyn Bridge Park.
