WARREN CONNECTICUT – This is the final day of my one week forced march with my now less-new 15mm Zeiss lens. Today I’m exploring the lens’s “bokeh”, the character of the out of focus portions of images. This is actually fairly difficult since with a 15mm lens not much is out of focus. So I got really close to some flowers (8 inches or so) and took advantage of the cloudy day to shoot wide open at f/2.8, with a bunch of stuff in the background. The answer: this lens has lovely, creamy Leica-style bokeh (typical of lenses from the Walter Mandler era) with gentle focus to out of focus transitions. Very nice if you can find a situation to use it.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – We’re finally getting over a very late spring here. One of my theories of photography is that there are very occasionally moments when the light is exquisite – when this happens you should stop and photograph whatever is at hand, and it will be beautiful. We had one of the moments today so I shot a beanpole behind our house. From earlier in the day Baby V reading the paper with her dad and a plant in a perennial border. I could decide which to post here so I posted all three.

NEW YORK NEW YORK and MARBLE DALE CONNECTICUT – It must be a summer Friday. The morning found me on Madison Avenue near home in the 90s running errands; lunchtime found us in Marble Dale stopped for a burger at a local roadside joint named Clamps. No McDonald’s here! Lovely light in both place captured with my Leica Monochrom and Luxochron lens.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – I got out and around the garden for a few hours today. Everything is up and the mottled light was fabulous. I decided to shoot very wide and very close.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – Well here we are in Connecticut with late spring plant life, really nice light, and a black and white camera. I pushed myself to a very wide lens today, again trying to escape the mundane.
