WARREN CONNECTICUT – I shot around the house today looking for easy subjects for tomorrow, when I’m shooting . . . FILM! I’ve purchased a Leica M3 film body from 1954, the year of this camera’s introduction. It’s in perfect condition cosmetically. I plan on running a few rolls of film through it before sending it off to Don Goldberg for an overhaul – the right repairman can typically put these cameras into like-new operating condition. So watch this space tomorrow.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – A reminder: my Leica 50mm APO Summicron lens (which I call the Luxocron) is back from being serviced and is in use lending its magic to pedestrian subjects, in this case a gas tank.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – I took a walk today in a neighbor’s woods where he stores disused farm equipment. Shot with my Sony A7rii and my Leica f.95 Noctilux lens (used wide open in this image), which results in characteristic edgy bokeh. Converted to black and white with my own formula, an attempt to match film response. The Nocti is actually easier to focus on the Sony than it is on a Leica body.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – I’ve discussed before my struggles trying to render the Eastern deciduous landscape. Today I spent a few hours wandering through the woods with a camera, shooting handheld bracketed shots to turn into HDR images. I shot with my Sony a7rii. Interestingly the dynamic range of the Sony is sufficiently wide that the HDR’s offered little dynamic range advantage, and of course introduced some digital artifacts.
