MANHATTAN – I worked with some less common angles around the Guggenheim Museum today, to pretty good effect.

MANHATTAN – Remarkably bad weather today; wind-driven slush falling from the sky. This is pneumonia weather.
Day 3415 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this date seven years ago (day 858 of one photo every day): Bocca Grande.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – A truly good day today on Fifth and Park Avenues in soft light. All images shot with a 1958 Dual Range Summicron lens (50mm), which has a lovely signature, on my Leica Monochrom camera.
Day 2378 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day two years ago (day 1648): New Preston Church.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – I went hunting for images in the neighborhood today with a longish lens (a 90mm) and found a couple of odd angles. Long lenses are a challenge for me; I much more often shoot wide. The fire escapes are two frames stitched.
Day 1,755 of one picture every day for the rest of my life.
On this day last year (day 1,390): Park Avenue.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – Lunch at The Wright with some Brazilian friends of long standing. Shot with my Sony RX100 II.
On this day last year: Birches.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – I had amazing luck today. I went to the Guggenheim Museum with my daughter and a close friend of hers; we had lunch at The Wright (a restaurant located in the Guggenheim) and walked the Central Park reservoir. I’ve been trying to take a picture I like of the museum for two years; I finally got it. I’ve also being trying to take a picture of the reservoir with the west side skyline in the background, and tall grass/reeds in spots around the reservoir in the foreground; I finally got it. Both taken with my Leica M9 and 24mm Summilux lens, more than justifying my affection for this combination.
On this day one year ago: the New School.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – I had the opportunity to borrow a demo Phase One IQ 180 digital back for the weekend. This is the latest and greatest in digital backs, with an 80 meg sensor and a sophisticated iPhone-like interface that makes it particularly well adapted for use on a tech camera. I’m considering trading my collection of Hasseblad gear for the IQ 180. After picking it up at Digital Transitions I got it set up my Alpa TC and went for a walk. Unfortunately the weather turned grim – as issue because these high end digital backs need a lot of light (or a sturdy tripod and a long exposure). I got as far as the Guggenheim Museum when it started to rain. Anyway, here is an early effort with it:
On this day last year: Quito Ecuador.
