NEW YORK NEW YORK – Back on the street with my Leica Monochrom on a very, very cold day. I lean toward a single lens, a 50mm Leica Summicorn Asph., which I refer to as a Luxochron. Most images are wider – I do this by stitching multiple images:The tennis court bubble and the underside of the 59th Street Bridge is six frames stitched in Photoshop.
Day 1,943 of one picture every day for the rest of my life.
On this day four years ago (day 482): Film! I shot this four years ago with a medium format rig shooting Ilford XP-2 “chromogenic” film. This illustrates the good and the bad of film. The bad: the white line to the right of Citicorp Center is actually a scratch on the negative – it arrived back from processing in that condition. It’s very odd that it’s perfectly parallel to the building – it almost looks like an act of vandalism. In subsequent versions of this image I’ve edited the line out.
