NEW YORK NEW YORK – A modest day photo-wise that yielded this image of a vacant lot for my Leica Monochrom and 35mm Summicron Asph. lens. Some days it may just be better to stay home.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – So on Tuesday, two days ago, I caught a shot with a very wide lens going up the steps at the subway stop at 86th Street and Lexington Avenue. Here’w what the same stop looks like from the outside – from the street – on another brilliantly sunny day. Taken with my Leica Monochrom and a 24mm Summilux lens.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – A day of changing light. There was a brief moment of sunlight as I walked up the steps at the 86th Street subway station. Taken with my Leica Monochrom and an 18mm Super Elamr lens.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – This is the best time of year to photograph Manhattan at night. “Night” happens early. It’s dark by 5:30 0r so so the lights are still on in most offices while the exteriors are dark. This opportunity continues through mid-January, but at least now it’s not freezing cold. I’m working without a tripod here with a fast lens, my 24mm f1.4 Summicron, and relatively high iso (5000) on my leica Monochrom. Shooting up in Manhattan is a regular theme here. Here you go:

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Well here we are – it’s Advent but also the pre-Christmas shopping season. We blessedly no longer have small children and no grandchildren yet, so toy shopping is not part of our routine. But here I am outside of FAO Schwartz on Fifth Avenue on Pearl Harbor Day, two weeks before Christmas, with my Leica Monochrom and 35mm Summicron Asph. lens.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – We had a moment of brilliant light just outside of the building that my office is located in. One of the lessons that I learned on a four month photographic excursion in Brazil a decade ago was whenever good light arrives stop and shoot whatever is at hand. Anyway, the following are taken with my Leica Monochrom and am 18mm Super Elmar lens.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I enforce a “no pets or cute kids” rule. Really. Well I’m making a sort of exception today for an image that started out as a picture of a standing vase from Spin in Shanghai in interesting light but ended up as a picture of Basil the Norwich Terrier. He’s a pet for sure so the picture breaks the rule. I’ve added a two frame stitch from the scuzzy stretch of Broadway in the 20s in case you’re a stickler and don’t want to look at a transgressive dog image. Your choice. Both taken with my Leica Monochrom; Basil with a 35mm Summilux FLE lens and the building with a 50mm Summilux, which is just back from a cleaning and adjustment from Nippon Photo Clinic.
