NEW YORK NEW YORK – A day of errands took me to Park Avenue in the 50s. The begonias on the Park Avenue islands are a nice innovation. Taken with my Fuji X-Pro1 and a 35mm Fuji lens.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Fotocare had a sample Leica Monochrom so I borrowed it for an hour to give it a spin. Very interesting camera. It’s a Leica M9 with a grayscale only sensor. The absence of a Bayer filter in front of the lens roughly doubles resolution. It forces thinking and seeing as if one is shooting black and white film. I’ve ordered one. Here are some results from my walk with it.
One more film shot from Milan:

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I took a walk today from the Flatiron Building to my office, with my Leica M9 and 18mm lens in hand. Some images came out well. Some not. Why should this day be any different than any other? I’m always moved by the display of ribbons on the fence at Marble Collegiate Church. They signify prayers that the congregation has dedicated to dead American service men and women in Central Asia. By the way, I’m converting a lot of images to black and white – this is the run up to the Leica Monochrom (sic), which I have on order. Here you go:

NEW YORK NEW YORK – The alley behind our building taken with my Fuji x-Pro 1 and Fujinon 18mm f2.0 lens. I’m a bit distracted preparing for out trip to Switzerland.
Here we are. on the way, taken with my iPhone.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – On the prowl with my Alpa TC and 47mm Schneider lens. Here’s a look at the Apex Trade School – a building that doesn’t seem to have gotten the e-mail about this neighborhood’s transformation. I’m guessing that this food cart is where the students get lunch.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – A truly splendid day for photography. I went out into the world with my Sony Nex-7 and 24mm Summicron. First to my final landscape class at ICP were I had a chance to shoot the class’s work. Then some quality outdoor urban time eating a sandwich in the plaza at 43rd Street and 6th Avenue. Then home to dress for dinner, in this case dress was white tie and tails, with some college classmates. Terrific chance to catch guys wearing penguin suits. Finally walking home at 10:30 I stopped to review the day’s images, and there were’t any. Wow. Colossal stupidity. Brobdingnagian blunder. I left home without a CF card in the camera. I captured nothing. The viewfinder had a warning but I didn’t notice it. This is the second time since I started this project that I’ve done this. Emphasizes the importance of basics. Load film in the camera. I always take an exposure before I leave home to check the camera, but not today.
What to do? Here I am on Madison Avenue at 10:30 with no picture for the day. Wait. My iPhone. It only has 10% charge left but that’s enough. I got one image through the window of EAT. That’s it, my image for the day.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – A pedestrian day. Pedestrian in the sense that I walked a lot, not that it was commonplace. I walked from Grand Central to the ICP; attended my landscape class (in the printing lab so it was just ok); walked to Paragon to stock up for our forthcoming trip to Switzerland; had lunch at ABC Carpet. Altogether and excellent day. Here’s a chrome man statue that showed up in front of Paragon, taken with my Leica and a 35mm Summilux lens.
On this day last year: Father’s day.
