WARREN CONNECITCUT – I stopped on College Farm Road today and shot stubble fields in a very light dusting of snow. College Farm Road takes its name from the fact that it passes through the Tanners’ farm; the Tanners hold the farm under a 500 year lease, dating from 1798, from Yale College. The lease is the first recorded instrument in the Warren Town Hall.

WARREN CONNECITCUT – Have I mentioned that it’s winter here. I often shoot long on days like today – the flattened perspective appeals to me in the flat light. Here I’m using a relatively recent acquisition, a Leica M 90mm Summicron, on my Leica Monochrom camera. This lens consistently delivers outstanding results.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – More snow. This weekend I’ve been shooting almost exclusively with my Leica f.95 Noctilux lens. Today I used a 1.8 neutral density filter, which provides six f-stops of darkening and permits me to shoot wide open at f.95 in the brilliant snowy landscape. This provides for a distinctive look that can’t be obtained any other way. The first image is two frames stitched.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – So we’re here for a long Thanksgiving weekend with Alexander, Francesca, Laura and Baby V. This is turkey hash day: I turn 100% of the leftover turkey into hash, serve it for dinner, and toss the carcass – I don’t fid turkey stock to be especially useful. More snowshoeing and enjoying a perfectly clear, not-too-cold, winter day.

Thursday November 27, 2014 Thanksgiving

WARREN CONNECTICUT – I’m dreaming of a white Thanksgiving, just like the ones we used to know . . . .

Here we are after about a foot of snow in the past day. This is completely lovely. We managed some snowshoeing around our other activities which consisted mainly of eating and cooking.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – We drove up here this morning through a snow storm – we ended up getting about 12 inches here. This is fun. It’s still novel. We went snowshoeing. We probably won’t feel this way at the end of February.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – I took a break from meeting preparation to take a walk with my Leica Monochrom and 90 mm Elmarit lens. I ended up doing a lot of stitches – the lens was a bit long for most of the subjects that I saw. The example below is three frames stitched.
