NEW YORK NEW YORK – Well this certainly has been . . . winter. Winters are quite variable here. This one has been tough – one major storm after another. We’re not giving up and moving to Costa Rica yet, but the challenges of moving around in a large city in appalling weather kind of wear on you. This is shooting up Lexington Avenue in a blizzard, and looking West from our offices.

Day 1,582 of one photograph a day for the rest of my life.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – We took advantage of the snow that fell over night to strap on our snowshoes and wander out across the New England landscape, generally following snowmobile tracks. There was lovely soft light and windblown snow. As you can see from last year’s image snowshoeing isn’t an uncommon pastime here this time of year.

Day 1,578 of my daily photo blog. Without a miss.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – We returned to Connecticut after our week in Antigua (and a day in New York) to find 30 inches or so of snow – much of it piled in much deeper drifts.

This is day 1,577 of my ongoing project: One photograph a day for the rest of my life.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I walked to the office this morning with my Leica M and a 50mm Summicron Asp. lens. I work more in black and white than color. Surveying my posts for the past four plus years about two thirds have been black and white. Of course shooting with a camera with color capability I can always convert to black and white which I’ve done with three of the four images below. The first is three frames stitched and perspective corrected in Photoshop.

This is day 1,576 of my one photograph a day for the rest of my life effort.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – Forgive me. I went out on snowshoes to photograph today but it was cold. Really cold. My fingers were sufficiently cold despite my gloves that I couldn’t really operate Leica Monochrom. I came back after 20 minutes or so and only got a few images. Here we go with two frames stitched.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I’ve shot the cityscape out of our dining room window thousands of times. Most often as a brick wall torture test of a lens or camera. But sometimes because the light is perfect or interesting or whatever. Today there was a lovely “Time and Again” moment when the snow muffled the sound of the city and buffed the visual edges down, simplifying the scene. This is with my Leica Monochrome and an 18mm Super Elmar M lens. The look that I’m getting with this camera reminds me of medium format film (such as the Rollei 2.8F, one of my favorite cameras ever).
